Welcome everyone to a New Year 2012. I hope it will be a happy and healthy one for all!

You did a super job and worked very hard in the process. I have received many nice

We will resume our Music schedule as follows:
K Readiness, Kindergarten, Gr. 1 & 2:
Seasonal Songs for Holidays --Winter, Dr. Martin L King Jr., Valentine's Day,
Presidents' Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc.
Rhythym Instruments & Dances -timing, beat, coordination, etc.
Mass Music & parts
Grades 3 & 4
Holiday and Patriotic songs (see above)
Music Theory (concepts, terms, vocabulary, notation)
World Music - Spain, Mexico, Central & South American countries
students will label maps, copy names of songs they hear on CD
and watch dances of different countries on Video
& play various instruments
*** Grades 3-6 will be participating in a Youth Concert at Kleinhans with the Buffalo
Philharmonic Orchestra -Wed. March 14th at 10:15 am
Inofrmation will be sent home shortly. $4.00 admission
Grades 5 & 6
Holiday and Patriotic tunes

American Music -- finish Westward Movement --Mining, logging, railroads, land claiming
Civil War Era (data, songs, etc.), Marches of John P. Sousa, 1940's

Annual Music Project - Posters due on Jan. 24th
-students are working as partners this year
-Posters can be in form of a Collage or Timeline with at least 10 interesting facts
-Classroom Presentations should be no longer than 3o minutes and include:
Poster display & explanation, atleast 3 pieces of music for class to listen to---
Music selections are to be Parent -approved and reflect the style or type of Music
chosen by the partners--
Presentation may include discussion questions & other activities for the class to
participate in. All students will help evaluate each presentation.
