K-8 ATHLETICS PROGRAM
OVERVIEW
Nativity offers an Elementary School Sports Program, which makes Nativity truly a unique school. The program consists of 6 competitive interscholastic sports throughout the school year for both boys and girls in grade levels K - 8. By having a Sports Program for grades K - 8, we create opportunities for students to develop physical skills, self-discipline, positive social skills, good sportsmanship, team cooperation, and to promote school spirit. The following table illustrates the sports offered here at Nativity.
Fall

Co-ed Basketball (Grades K-2), Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball

Co-ed Soccer, Co-ed Track, & Girls Softball
PHILOSOPHY
Our goals for this program are to teach students the basic skills of sports, as well as teamwork, cooperation, and good sportsmanship. Most importantly, we want the students to have fun. Ultimately, at this level and at this age, it is not about the competition, it is about discovering the joys of athletic participation and being part of a team.
Varsity
This level is for students in grades 7 and 8.The purpose of this level is to continue:
1. Advancement of skills.
2. Teach goal setting and responsibility.
Junior Varsity
This level of participation is for students in grades 5 and 6. Emphasis is placed on:
1. Further advancement of skills.
2. Participation and development.
Grades K-4
The primary focus at this level is:
1. Participation, skill development and team building.
2. Fair playing time to all participants.
SPORT FEES
Fees are collected for each sport so that uniforms are provided, and league fees to be paid for. Fees must be paid when the athlete hands in their sign-up sheet. Sign-up sheets for each sport are available when the sport is in season. Sign-up sheets are available on our school’s Athletics web page.
